A severe weather warning has been issued by the Met Office. Heavy showers in many areas are expected to give localised rainfall accumulations of 15 to 25mm in 3 hours or less. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads. The powder in the earlier white powder incident has been examined and declared as brick dust. Police are dealing with this as hoax mail. |

A envelope containing a brown powder substance addressed to 'Houses of Parliament' (no one specific) was received at a East London sorting office this morning. The Letter was described as 'normal size' envelope covered in clear selotape and facilitating Christmas stamps. Subsequently discovered contained non-hazardous brick dust. The Incident has now concluded and has resulted in a full stand down as substance is Non-Suspicious, police are continuing investigating the matter locally. No further updates will follow at this stage. Please however, can staff remain vigilant especially postal items they are handling. |

Another Severe Weather Warning has been issued by the Met Office today 19th July. Showers are expected to become widespread and also heavy at times. Accumulations of 15mm in 3 hours are likely in some areas, with 20 mm or more for the worst affected places. Please check www.metoffice.gov.uk for further details. The object on the Tower of London foreshore has been declared non-suspicious. The area is now fully open. |

An object, believed to be a mine, has been found on the River Thames foreshore outside The Tower of London. Cordons are being implemeted. At the moment the cordons are keeping pedestrians 100m back and road traffic is not affected. Updates to follow. |

The Met Office have issue an advisory of Severe Weather. There is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting parts of Wales and southern England. Outbreaks of heavy rain with some thunderstorms spreading up from the southwest this afternoon and especially this evening could give 15-25mm of rain in some areas with 50mm possible in a few locations. The demonstration in Downing Street is now concluded. All demonstrators have peacefully left the area. |

Please be aware there is currently a demonstration involving 90 persons the gates of Downing Street, SW1 in relation to 'Stop the War Coalition'. This is peaceful authorised demonstration, but is spilling out onto the carriageway of Whitehall, SW1 and numbers gradually increasing. Local police dealing. Updates to follow. |

Update to Electrical Fault in Whitehall. Northbound traffic remains closed from Parliament Sq. Southbound is open from Whitehall Avenue. However please avoid the area as there is severe congestion within the environs of Whitehall. Road closures are likely to remain in place for some considerable time, please seek alternate routes when travelling. |
