There are currently court proceedings in process in relation to the eviction of Peace protestors inhabiting Parliament Square. The judge is expected to give his ruling regarding the appeal process at around 0900 hours on Friday 16th July. As a result the police are informing managers of premises situated in the vicinity of the potential for displacement of protesters. Whilst judicial proceedings are continuing it is possible that protesters may seek to commit acts of trespass by entering government buildings in the vicinity and may therefore carry out hostile reconnaissance before making efforts to enter and occupy nearby buildings. It is for these reasons police are requesting that you make sure all your security measures are in place for your building and any open land in the case of displacement. Any additional information will be circulated as soon as practicable. In the case of emergencies please contact the police via the 999 system. Any other related matters please contact the Communities Together team on helpline 0800 028 2390. |

On Saturday 10th April 2010 Environmental activists have called for an 'international day of action'. The Tar Sands campaign focuses on the extraction of oil in Canada, perceived to have a negative impact on the environment and indigenous community. Companies and buildings associated with Canada may be considered targets. Previous protests have had the ethos of 'Non Violent Direct Action'. It is possible that traffic congestion will occur in the vicinity of Trafalgar Square. |

Following major flooding at a BT exchange in the Paddington area, tens of thousands of customers in parts of North and West London may be experiencing a loss of broadband and/or telephone service. Customers in other parts of the country may also be affected.
The flood water has been removed from the exchange building overnight and power supply has begun to be restored. We are now beginning to restore communications services to customers and this work will continue throughout the day. We will issue further updates as this work progresses. Customers can get recorded updates by calling 0800 1690199. The message will be updated as the situation changes.
Any customers needing to make calls to the emergency services who have a problem using their phones are advised to do so by using their mobile phone, or alternatively by using a friend or neighbour's working phone. A number of mobile services are also affected so customers may not be able to make or receive calls on their mobile or may experience an intermittent service. On Wednesday 31st March 2010 it is anticipated there will be two motor cycle processions from Villiers Street, WC2 to Trafalgar Square. It is anticipated that one event will be at 0800 hrs and the second event will be at 1800 hrs. The protest is by the ‘No to Bike Parking Tax Campaign’. This group are unhappy with Westminster City Council’s introduction of parking charges for motorcycles within the Borough of Westminster. This group’s intention is to cause disruption to a major traffic junction or roundabout by driving in such a manner as to cause congestion. The Organiser suggests about 50 participants. |
